Botox
Botox is a protein made from Botulinum toxin that temporarily paralyzes muscle. In small doses, it can reduce skin wrinkles and help treat a range of medical conditions, including eyelid spasms and some types of migraine.
Botulinum toxin can be used to:
- Smooth crow’s feet, forehead furrows, frown lines, lip lines and bunny lines
- Diminish neck bands
- Improve the appearance of skin dimpling of the chin
- Lift the corners of the mouth
- Soften a square jawline
- Correct a gummy smile
XEOMIN
Officially approved by the U.S. Federal Drug Administration FDA in 2010, Xeomin is a newer neuromuscular blocker on the market for various cosmetic and medical procedures.
The main distinction between Xeomin and Botox is how they’re manufactured. Xeomin is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, while Botox is composed of a complex mixture of proteins. Essentially, this means that Xeomin doesn’t have any additives, while Botox does. This is often why Xeomin is nicknamed the “naked injectable.”
